Why I Participate

People always say, "Life isn't fair." Now, sometimes life does take us by surprise with natural disasters and catastrophic events, but for the most part, I believe it is not life that is unfair. It is people that make it unfair. Which means other people need to work harder to make it fair. We all have the opportunity to stand up for justice and fight for our beliefs. To paraphrase a quote I heard, people who are trying to make this world worse aren't taking a day off, so neither should the people who are working for good. I get involved because the world could be a better place and I want to see that happen. People deserve to be treated equally, fairly, justly. I want to help.

About Me

I am new on the volunteer scene. For the past few years, school, jobs, extracurricular activities, as well as transportation restrictions made it difficult to become super involved. As a result, my involvement was more limited to researching, petition-signing, and discussing/debating with peers and others. But I am more than willing to make up for lost time!

My Interest

I am a huge reader. I love books! Especially ones that get you thinking and have a deeper message. In fact, I'm going to school to get a degree in analyzing literature so I can become a professor in the field. I am also quite a fan of The Office (the American version). It is hilarious and definitely my favorite show. I adore quotes. The fact that words can be combined to inspire and spark thought is very impressive. You can also find a quote to fit any scenario, which is very handy. And they are usually said by people who have endured more than you. If they can do it and come out the other side with a witty or stirring thing to say, why can't you?

  • What can you do on October 24th to make sure President Obama and world leaders get the message about the need for urgent action on climate change? Well, basically anything you like. Just make sure it is legal and just make sure it's creative! The President of the Maldives, for example, is holding...
