"She awoke from a half-conscious sleep, her clothes glued to her body from the sweat of forgotten dreams. In a paranoid daze she grabbed the first pack of smokes she saw, hoping it was not the empty pack she had carelessly tossed on the floor earlier that day. As she headed for the door the memory of a snow covered world almost sent her back to bed, but the bland confusion that currently inhabited her mind kept her moving. It was quiet outside. Her feet, on the verge of frostbite, held their ground at the site of an iced over world. She lit a cigarette as she watched the earth unmoving around her, the freezing wind making her shockingly aware of her surroundings. She exhaled, wondering to herself how much of the ash gray smoke was due to the full flavored cigarette in her hand and how much was due to the rebellious cold that continues to haunt her." -me
